OFF CENTER COINS EXPLAINED
These
coins are misstruck when the planchets do not enter the coinage presses
correctly. The coin can be struck off center in varying degrees. Coins
that are struck only slightly off center with none of the design
missing are called Broadstrikes....The Off Center coins usually missing
from 10 to 98% of the design. Those that are struck with
nearly all of the design missing are usually worth more, but those with
a readable mint mark and date are the most valuable and since the
detection
equipment is much more sophisticated now, it is becoming more
difficult to obtain these coins.
